David Schmidt, General Manager David began his Yours Truly career at the age of nineteen in February of ‘89 as a dishwasher in the Mayfield Village location. He worked his way up the ladder and nine months later was promoted to manager. David married his wife Gina in 1993. The pair met and worked together in Mayfield Village. They have four sons. When David is not busy with “friends” (a term he uses instead of co-workers) he enjoys gardening, aquariums, and spending time with his family. David says, “Working for Yours Truly allows me the unique opportunity of managing an experience - one where both guests and employees alike are happy and satisfied.“ Gary Johnston brought a wealth of industry experience with him when he joined Yours Truly in 2006. Prior to joining YT, he was a regional manager for the Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub chain, headquartered in Oklahoma. Gary moved from Pittsburgh to Painesville and came to YT in search of a job that required less travel. “The main reason I picked YT is because of its family ownership. It’s small enough that your voice is really heard,” says Gary, adding, “Plus, I really like the food!” (For the record, omelets, chicken wraps and Patty Melts are his favorites!) Gary, a father of four, ranging in age from 13 to 26, grew up in Pittsburgh, which explains his undying allegiance to the Pittsburgh Steelers. “I’m a 32 year season ticket holder,” says Gary. Gary is an avid high school wrestling fan. He makes a weekly trip to Pittsburgh to cheer on his youngest son, who wrestles on a club team there. Gary sees his role at YT as a teacher. “I’ve had it all. Now, I’m just happy sharing the knowledge I have and watching other people’s growth process,” he says. Kim Jewell, a native of Highland, New York, became a Yours Truly manager in October 2006. Prior to coming to Yours Truly, Kim worked in the pizza business. Kim graduated from S.U.N.Y., New Paltz, where she earned a degree in industrial and organizational psychology. "I find my degree useful in my interactions with guests and employees," says Kim. Kim says the most challenging part of being a manager is making the schedule. "It takes me days to put together a schedule," she says, "because I like to create teams that work well together, and I also take pride in granting scheduling requests." What's her favorite thing about YT? "The guests and co-workers become like friends and family. YT is a significant piece of people's lives, and I'm honored to be a part of it." Kim has a cat, Buddy and enjoys swimming and hiking in the Metroparks. She's a self-taught woodworker who likes refinishing projects, such as the dresser she recently completed. She's also a big movie fan, noting that her all-time favorite flick is "A Christmas Story." When Kim has free time, she heads out of town to play blackjack or three-card poker in casinos in Atlantic City, Niagara Falls or Michigan. According to Kim, "If there's a casino, I'm there!"
